Betsy Bauer will introduce a new body of work at the Hahn Ross Gallery, beginning with an opening reception Friday, October 7, from 5-7 p.m.
Bauer’s new body of work, which she refers to as "Vista Luminosa" is comprised of small intimate landscapes of glowing light and horizons. Botanicals and music also reappear in these small paintings on panel. These pieces are mounted in shadow boxes with surprises of jewel colors inside.
Bauer has exhibited with Hahn Ross for over ten years, but for this show is making significant departures from previous work. Bauer, a full time Santa Fe resident, is examining a smaller format while also depicting landscapes that are less site-specific and more ethereal and moody than her previous work. The brushstrokes in her new work are looser and more energetic and gestural.
